At Bowerscapes, we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share your personal information when you interact with our website, services, or shop.

In simple terms: We only collect what we need to serve you better. We never sell your data. We protect it carefully. And you’re always in control.

Information You Provide Directly
When You Contact Us: Name, phone number, email address, project location and property type, design preferences and requirements, budget range and timeline, and any details you share in our client discovery questionnaire.

When You Purchase from Our Shop: Billing and shipping address, payment information (processed securely through payment gateway — we don’t store card details), and order history and preferences.

When You Subscribe to Our Newsletter: Name and email address, and design interests/preferences (if you tell us).

When You Engage Us for a Project: Property documents (if provided for permits/approvals), site access information, family member details (if shared for design personalisation), and photos of your existing space.
Information Collected Automatically
When You Visit Our Website: IP address and location (city/region, not exact address), browser type and device information, pages visited and time spent, how you found us (Google search, social media, direct link), and cookies (explained in our Cookie Policy).

Analytics & Tracking: We use Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel to understand which content is most helpful, how visitors navigate the site, and where we should focus our design content.

To Deliver Our Services
Respond to your inquiries and schedule consultations, prepare design proposals and project plans, coordinate with vendors and contractors, send project updates and progress photos, and process payments and generate invoices.
To Improve Your Experience
Personalise design recommendations based on your preferences, remember your material selections and style choices, provide relevant content and inspiration, and improve our website and services based on feedback.
To Communicate, Market & Comply
To Communicate: Send appointment reminders and project milestone updates, share our newsletter with design tips (only if you subscribed), notify you about relevant services, and request feedback after project completion.

For Marketing & Portfolio: Feature completed projects on our website and social media (with your permission), share testimonials and reviews (with attribution as you prefer), and send occasional promotional offers (you can opt out anytime).

Legal & Compliance: Maintain records for tax and accounting purposes, comply with Indian laws and regulations, protect against fraud or misuse, and resolve disputes or enforce our terms.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Why We Can Use Your Data
Under Indian law and international best practices, we process your personal information based on:

Your Consent: You provided information voluntarily (filled a form, signed a contract, opted into our newsletter).

Contractual Necessity: We need your data to deliver the service you requested.

Legitimate Interests: We have valid business reasons (marketing, improving services) that don’t override your privacy rights.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.

Service Providers & Vendors: Payment gateways (Razorpay, etc.) to process transactions, shipping couriers to deliver shop orders, email service providers for newsletters, cloud storage providers for project files, and website hosting and security services.

Project Partners (Only With Your Knowledge): Carpenters, electricians, and contractors working on your project, material suppliers for delivery coordination, and photographers for project documentation (if you approved portfolio use).

Legal Requirements: If required by Indian law or court order, to protect our rights or property, or in case of emergency or to prevent harm.

Business Transfers: If Bowerscapes is sold or merges with another company (unlikely, but possible), we’d notify you and ensure the new owner respects this policy.

5. Data Retention

Active Clients & Prospective Clients
Active Clients: Project files, communications, and invoices are kept for 7 years (Indian tax law requirement). Design drawings and 3D models are retained permanently (for reference and portfolio).

Prospective Clients (Inquiries That Didn’t Convert): Contact details and project notes are kept for 2 years. After 2 years without engagement, data is deleted or anonymised.
Subscribers, Shop Customers & Analytics
Newsletter Subscribers: Data is retained until you unsubscribe (opt out anytime via the link in every email).

Shop Customers: Order history is kept for 3 years (for warranty and support). Abandoned carts are retained for 30 days (to send a gentle reminder).

Website Analytics: Aggregated, anonymous data is retained indefinitely for business insights. Individual browsing data is retained for 26 months (Google Analytics standard).
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by applicable law. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Right to Access & Correction
You have control over your personal information. You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you — we’ll provide it within 15 days. If any information is inaccurate or incomplete, let us know and we’ll update it promptly.
Right to Deletion & Restriction
You may ask us to delete your data. We’ll comply unless we’re legally required to keep it (tax records, contracts), you have an active project or outstanding payment, or it’s needed to resolve a dispute.

You may also ask us to stop using your data for certain purposes (like marketing) while still retaining it. This right to restrict processing can be exercised at any time by contacting us directly.
Right to Portability & Right to Object
Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a standard format to transfer to another service provider.
 
Right to Object: Opt out of marketing communications, profiling, or automated decision-making at any time.
 
Right to Withdraw Consent: If you gave consent for something (like newsletter signup), you can withdraw it anytime without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Our Response Commitment
We take all privacy rights requests seriously. We will acknowledge your request promptly and work to fulfil it within the timeframes specified. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before processing a request to protect your information from unauthorised access.

Technical Measures: SSL encryption on our website, secure payment gateways (PCI-DSS compliant), regular backups stored in encrypted cloud storage, and password-protected access to client files.

Organisational Measures: Only authorised team members access personal data, vendors sign confidentiality agreements, and we conduct regular security audits and updates.

What We Can’t Guarantee: No system is 100% secure. Email is not fully encrypted (don’t send passwords or financial details via email). If a third-party service like Google is breached, that is beyond our control.

If we discover a data breach affecting your information, we’ll notify you within 72 hours.

8. Children's Privacy

Bowerscapes does not knowingly collect information from children under 18. Our services are for adults making design decisions for their homes or businesses.

If we learn we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately. If you believe we may have collected information from a child, please contact us at connect@bowerscapes.com.

Your data is primarily stored in India on servers located in Mumbai (for website hosting) and Bangalore (for project files).

Some service providers (Google, Facebook) may transfer data internationally. They comply with international data protection standards. We ensure any international transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards to protect your personal information.

What You’ll Receive (If You Opt In): Monthly newsletter with design tips and project features, occasional updates about new services or shop products, seasonal inspiration and trend reports, and exclusive offers for past clients.

How to Opt Out: Click “Unsubscribe” in any email, email us at connect@bowerscapes.com, or update your preferences in your shop account.

Even if you opt out of marketing, we’ll still send project-related updates if you’re an active client, order confirmations and shipping updates for shop purchases, and responses to your direct inquiries.

We may update this policy to reflect new privacy laws or regulations, add new services or features, or improve clarity based on questions we receive.

When we make significant changes: We’ll post a notice on our website homepage, email registered users and newsletter subscribers, and update the “Last Updated” date at the bottom of this page.

Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
