How Our Services Work Together
Design is not one thing. It is a set of decisions made in sequence — each one influencing the next — about how a space is divided, how it is lit, what it is made of, and how it will be used by the people who inhabit it. At Bowerscapes, we think about all of these questions together, even when a client engages us for just one of them.
Our services divide into three disciplines: interior design, landscape design, and — selectively — hospitality. Within each discipline, we offer both full-scope design and focused individual services for clients managing their own broader project.
Interior design at Bowerscapes covers the full range of residential project types in Bangalore: from compact apartment interiors in Indiranagar and Koramangala to large independent villas in Whitefield and Sadashivanagar. Our interior work spans spatial planning, modular carpentry, bespoke furniture, lighting design, material selection, and complete styling. Most residential projects in Bangalore engage several of these services together — not because we require it, but because they genuinely reinforce each other.
Landscape design covers all outdoor environments in Bangalore and Goa: private gardens, terraces and balconies, courtyards and atriums, vertical gardens, water features, outdoor lighting, shade structures, and hardscape and pathways. Bangalore’s climate — with its distinct monsoon, warm winters, and increasingly hot summers — makes the choice of plant species, materials, and site drainage genuinely consequential. Our landscape design is grounded in the horticultural and climatic realities of the Deccan plateau, not in photography from other countries.
How interior and landscape design work together
The threshold between indoors and outdoors is one of the most consequential design decisions in any home. Whether it’s the way a living room opens onto a garden, the material continuity between an interior floor and a terrace paving, or the lighting design that makes the view from inside feel intentional rather than accidental — these are questions that only make sense when interior and landscape are considered together. At Bowerscapes, when we work on both the interior and the outdoor space of a home, we run the two disciplines in parallel from the start. The result is a home that reads as one considered environment rather than two separate design projects that happen to share a building.
Working in Bangalore
Bangalore is where we are based and where we do the largest share of our work. The city presents a specific set of design conditions: older neighbourhoods like Jayanagar, Richmond Town, and Basavanagudi with bungalows and mature trees; mid-rise apartment clusters in Indiranagar, Koramangala, and HSR Layout where spatial efficiency is paramount; and newer villa developments in the northern and eastern corridors where larger plots allow more ambitious outdoor design. We know the climate, the local material suppliers, the best craftspeople, the construction landscape, and the planning context. That local knowledge translates directly into design decisions that are better calibrated to the place.
Working in Goa
Goa requires a different approach. The climate is more extreme, the humidity higher, the architecture shaped by a Portuguese colonial tradition that has produced one of the most distinctive residential vernaculars in India. We design for vacation homes, investment villas, and heritage properties in Goa — typically for clients based in Bangalore, Mumbai, or Delhi who want their Goa property to feel genuinely connected to its location rather than imported from elsewhere. Our work here leans heavily on laterite, lime plaster, Kadappa stone, and locally appropriate planting — materials and species that understand the coastal climate and will look better in five years than they did on completion day.
What to expect when working with us
We are a small studio by deliberate choice. Each project is led by a principal designer — not handed off to a junior after the first meeting. We begin every engagement with a detailed brief — not a standard intake form, but a genuine conversation about how you live, what has worked in previous spaces, and what has frustrated you. We then develop design options, present them with clear reasoning, and refine based on your feedback. We manage contractor relationships, material sourcing, and site visits, and we stay involved through completion and the final styling walkthrough.
We do not take commissions from suppliers, vendors, or contractors. Every recommendation we make is based on what is right for your project. We are not trying to move inventory; we are trying to produce a space that works.
Every service is described in full on its own page. We encourage you to read about the specific service you are considering — not because the description will answer every question, but because it will tell you how we think about that kind of work, and whether we are the right studio for you. When you are ready, reach out and we will take it from there.
