Green walls that turn a surface into a statement.

Living walls that breathe beauty into the built environment.

Vertical gardens solve a specific problem: the desire for planting in a space that has no ground area to accommodate it. A blank exterior wall, an interior feature wall, a narrow corridor between buildings — these surfaces become opportunities for living, breathing greenery when they are designed and planted correctly.

We design vertical garden and living wall systems for both interior and exterior use in Bangalore and Goa. The design process is technical before it is aesthetic: we assess the light levels, the air circulation, the irrigation source, and the drainage requirements before we select a single plant. A vertical garden installed without this analysis will fail. A vertical garden designed for its specific conditions will thrive for years with minimal intervention.

For exterior vertical gardens in Bangalore, we use species that are adapted to the city’s climate: Scindapsus aureus, Philodendron species, Epipremnum, Ferns, and various creepers that can handle Bangalore’s humidity without becoming invasive. We avoid succulents and cacti, which are often marketed as low-maintenance vertical garden plants but are poorly suited to Bangalore’s humidity.

For interior living walls — in lobbies, offices, and residential feature walls — we design systems that incorporate a recirculating water supply, substrate that holds moisture without becoming waterlogged, and a plant palette chosen for the specific light conditions of that wall. Most interior vertical gardens receive less light than their plants need; we select species that can genuinely thrive under low light, not merely survive.

Every vertical garden project includes installation supervision and a six-week establishment period during which we monitor the planting and make adjustments. We also provide a long-term maintenance guide and offer an optional quarterly maintenance visit. Vertical gardens work well alongside courtyard planting and terrace gardens where ground space is limited. Read more about the studio.

How We Work

What goes into a vertical garden that lasts.

01 — Site & Environmental Analysis

We begin with a thorough assessment of the proposed wall: light levels at different times of day, air circulation, humidity, the structural capacity of the wall and the anchor points, and the proximity of a water supply for the irrigation system. This analysis determines what type of vertical garden system is appropriate, what irrigation approach is needed, and what species can genuinely succeed in those conditions. A vertical garden is a technical installation first and an aesthetic one second.

02 — System Selection & Irrigation Design

There are several vertical garden system types — panel systems, pocket systems, tray systems, and hydroponic systems — each with different weight, depth, and maintenance characteristics. We select the system based on your specific wall and requirements. All systems we specify include a recirculating drip irrigation timer that delivers water and liquid fertiliser to each plant at set intervals. The irrigation system is the most critical component of a long-lived living wall.

03 — Plant Palette & Layout Design

We design the planting layout with the same care as a garden planting plan: considering the colour, texture, and growth habit of each species, how they will interact as they mature, and how the overall pattern will develop over the first year. A well-designed living wall has a coherent composition — not a random distribution of whatever plants were available on installation day.

04 — Installation Supervision

We supervise the installation of both the system framework and the planting. Correct installation of the anchor points and irrigation pipework at this stage prevents the most common failures: leaking fittings, uneven water distribution, and panels that shift over time. We verify the irrigation output at each zone before planting begins and confirm even water distribution across the whole wall.

05 — Establishment Period

The six weeks after installation are the period of greatest risk. Root systems are not yet established, and plants are dependent on the irrigation system for all their water. We visit regularly during this period, monitoring root development, replacing any plants that have not established, and adjusting irrigation timing based on how the wall is responding.

06 — Maintenance Handover

At handover, you receive a complete maintenance guide: irrigation settings for each season, fertilising schedule, guidance on identifying and treating pests, and species-specific notes on pruning and replacement. We also offer a quarterly maintenance visit for clients who prefer to have us monitor the wall on an ongoing basis.

Questions

What people ask about vertical gardens and living walls.

How long does a living wall take to establish fully?

Most vertical gardens reach full coverage between three and six months after installation, depending on the species used and the time of year. Installations during or just before Bangalore's monsoon — June through September — establish faster because humidity is high and light is consistent. Installations during the dry months need more careful irrigation management during the first few weeks. We supervise the establishment period and make adjustments to ensure an even, healthy result.

How much maintenance does a vertical garden require?

Exterior vertical gardens in Bangalore typically need a monthly maintenance visit: checking the irrigation system, removing dead or diseased growth, replacing individual plants that have not established, and fertilising during the growing season. Interior living walls need more frequent attention — fortnightly is typical — because the controlled environment does not include the natural rainfall and humidity fluctuations that exterior walls benefit from. We provide a maintenance guide with every installation and offer an optional quarterly maintenance service.

What is the minimum wall area for a vertical garden?

We work from approximately four square metres upward. Below that threshold, a carefully designed arrangement of wall-mounted planters or a trellis with trained climbers often produces a more cost-effective and visually satisfying result than a full living wall system. We are honest about when a vertical garden is the right solution and when a simpler alternative will serve you better. The goal is always the best outcome for your space — not the most technically complex solution.
