Interior Design · Complete Styling
The final layer that makes a space feel complete.
Styling is the difference between a designed room and a lived-in one.
A finished interior and a complete interior are not the same thing. A space can be fully built — the joinery installed, the flooring laid, the walls painted — and still feel like it is waiting for something. That something is styling: the discipline of layering objects, textiles, art, and plants that transforms a well-built space into one that feels fully inhabited.
Styling is not decoration in the superficial sense. It is the last design decision — and often the most personal. The right rug anchors a room. The wrong one makes everything else feel provisional. A considered arrangement of objects on a shelf reads as character. An unconsidered one reads as clutter. The difference is not the objects themselves. It is the eye that places them.
Our complete styling service is available for homes that have been designed and built — whether by Bowerscapes or by another designer — and are ready for the final layer. We visit the space, understand the client’s existing objects and what they want to keep, identify what is missing, source what needs to be added, and style every room in a single focused process.
We source textiles from Indian weavers and makers where possible — particularly from the craft traditions of Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Kerala, which produce work that is both beautiful and appropriate to the Indian climate. We source ceramics, glassware, and objects from studio makers and small producers. We avoid mass-produced styling items that appear in every interior photograph and belong to no one in particular.
Plants are always part of our styling work. A home in Bangalore has access to a remarkable range of indoor plants that thrive in the city’s climate. We select and place plants for their form, their light requirements in the specific room, and their maintenance needs. We also advise on soil, pots, and watering schedules so that the plants remain as healthy six months later as they are on styling day.
Complete styling works well alongside our lighting design service — since the final arrangement of objects and art affects the lighting decisions, and vice versa. It also complements our custom furniture work for homes where the pieces are in place and only the surrounding context needs to be resolved. Read more about how we work.
What We Deliver
How We Work
How a complete styling project unfolds — the final layer that makes a space feel inhabited.
01 — Space Audit & Brief
Styling begins with understanding what is already in the space — both the fixed elements (architecture, furniture, lighting) and the moveable objects already owned. We catalogue what you have, assess what is worth keeping in its current position, what should be stored, and what gaps exist in the soft layer of the home. Styling is not about buying more things — it is about curating what exists and adding only what is genuinely needed to complete the picture.
02 — Soft Furnishing Selection
Curtains, rugs, cushions, and throws are the materials that determine the warmth and tactile quality of a space more than any hard finish. We select these in relation to the existing material palette — working with texture, weight, and colour to produce layering that feels considered without being contrived. We source from Indian weavers and artisans where possible, prioritising quality and longevity over novelty.
03 — Art & Object Curation
We identify the positions where art and objects will have the most impact and curate options in collaboration with you — working with your existing pieces and, where needed, sourcing additional works from artists and makers whose work suits the character of the space. We do not specify art to fill walls; we specify art that belongs in the space.
04 — Plant Styling
Interior planting is the element that most reliably makes a room feel alive. We specify plants for each position based on the genuine light conditions of the space, select species that will actually thrive in Bangalore's indoor environment, and choose containers and display methods that suit the character of the room. We do not place a fiddle-leaf fig in a north-facing room and hope for the best.
05 — Styling Day
All selected items — textiles, art, objects, books, plants — are brought to site on a single day and placed simultaneously, so we can adjust the balance of the whole space as we work through it. We do not style room by room in sequence; the final composition is seen and adjusted as a whole. This day is when the space transitions from well-built to genuinely inhabited.
06 — Care & Editing Notes
You receive care notes for textiles and specific plant care guidance. We also provide a brief editing guide — how to introduce new pieces over time without disrupting the composition, and how to rotate seasonal textiles without losing the character of each space. A well-styled home should feel better over time as it accumulates life, not worse as things are added thoughtlessly.
Questions
What people ask about interior styling and the finishing layer.
When in the project does styling happen?
Styling is the final stage — it happens after furniture is in position, curtains are hung, lighting is commissioned, and the space is clean and ready to be lived in. Styling a space before these elements are in place produces a result that will need to be redone. We sequence it correctly: every other layer is complete before we bring in the soft furnishings, objects, and plants that make a space feel inhabited rather than just finished.
What does complete styling include?
Soft furnishings (cushions, throws, rugs, curtain dressing), art selection and placement, decorative objects, books, trays and vessels, interior plants and their containers, and the arrangement of whatever personal objects the client already owns that are worth incorporating. We do not buy things for the sake of filling surfaces. Every object we specify or place has a reason to be there.
Can you style a home that was not originally designed by Bowerscapes?
Yes. Styling is available as a standalone service. We begin with an assessment of the existing space — its architecture, its existing furniture, and what it needs in its soft layer to feel complete. Many well-built homes feel unfinished not because anything is wrong with them structurally, but because the final layer of textiles, art, and objects has never been properly considered. This is exactly the gap a styling project addresses.
The space is built. Now make it feel like home.
